Fraudsters cold calling elderly victims - November 2017

We are reminding residents to be on their guard following reports of several incidents where cold callers have phoned elderly victims with the intention of obtaining money.

Our advice would be to never confirm or provide personal and/or financial information over the phone and to end the call immediately.

Please ensure the elderly and vulnerable are aware of this advice.

Incidents have been reported where fraudsters have phoned residents advising them that they owe large sums of money. The callers can be quite aggressive and sometimes threatening in their approach.

If you receive such a call end the call immediately and report it to  Action Fraud on 0300 123 2040 or 999 if they have stated they are sending someone to your home to collect the money.
