If you were in Stafford town centre this morning, we need your help to catch a man suspected of robbing the Stone Road Post Office and wounding a member of the public.

At 9:45 this morning (Monday 4th) a man in dark clothing and white trainers, with a purple backpack, has robbed the Stone Road Post Office and injured a witness. The robber stole a quantity of cash and lightly wounded a witness's hand with a knife he was carrying.

The robber then made off on a bicycle and was last seen riding past the Cooperative Food store.

Officers attended and made a search of the local area, but unfortunately we were unable to find anyone fitting that description. Paramedics treated the injured witness at the scene.

If anyone has any information that can help us catch the robber, please call 101 quoting incident number 142 of 4 September or for guaranteed anonymity call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
