A particularly cruel and violent burglary on Thursday has left an elderly woman with nasty injuries and so we need your help to bring the burglars to justice.

A house on Ashwood in Stoke-on-Trent was burgled on the evening of Thursday 24th August at around 10:30pm.

Two men entered the property and violently restrained the elderly woman who lives there. The woman had her rings removed from her fingers before her hands were tightly tied by her own dressing gown cord and a towel was put over her head with another dressing gown cord tied around her neck. The two men then searched the flat for valuables and stole more jewellery and cash.

Detective Constable Gary Cliffe, the officer leading the investigation, said: "We are appealing to the public for information to help our investigation in locating and prosecuting the perpetrators of this horrific crime.

"If you know anything that can help this investigation, please contact us on 101 or for guaranteed anonymity call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 quoting incident number 15 of 25th August."
