Animal Rehoming Fraud - July 2017

We would like to bring to your attention two incidents where members of the public have attempted to purchase/rehome animals online.

In both incidents members of the public have, following online advertisements, made payments to vendors with a view to rehoming animals.

The victims have been advised that the animals would be couriered to them following receipt of payment. Once payment was received, the victims were advised they would have to pay a further amount for insurance (between £780 and £960).   The victims refused to pay this money and never received the animals.

Our advice would be to always do your research and check out vendors before entering into any transaction with them. Never provide them with any personal or banking details.

Always visit the vendor and meet the animals before making a decision.

For further advice and information visit RSPCA or if you suspect an animal is being mistreated please contact the RSPCA on 0300 1234 999.
