Man arrested on suspicion of attempted murder

A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following a stabbing incident in Dudley Road, Himley on 16 July.

A 30-year-old woman and her eight-year-old son were taken to Sandwell Hospital for treatment. Their injuries are not life threatening and they are being supported by specialist officers.

The man who was arrested remains in custody pending further investigation.

Det Insp Alan Lyford, of Staffordshire Police, said: "I would like to reassure the public that this was not a random attack."

Any witnesses are asked to call 101 quoting incident number 798 of 16 July.
