The theft took place at Chancel County Infants School in Rugeley between 1030 and 1050pm on March 11.

Sergeant Jamie McArthur, of Cannock Chase Local Policing Team, made a live appeal on this morning's (July 4) Crimewatch Roadshow.

"I'm appealing for help from anyone who can recognise these men or may have seen these lanterns, or perhaps been offered them for sale.

"The lanterns have been part of the school since it was built in the 1930s. We're determined to catch these thieves and trace the lanterns."

He described them as white, early 20s, around 5ft 10ins tall and wearing dark clothing and beanie hats.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Staffordshire Police on 101 quoting reference number 245 of March 11.
