A partnership approach to support individuals vulnerable to recruitment by violent extremists.

The police service and partners have an integral role to play working with local communities to support people who are vulnerable to being drawn into criminal activity. This could be in relation to drugs, knife crime, guns and gangs or involvement in violent extremism.

Channel provides a mechanism for supporting people who may be vulnerable to violent extremism by assessing the nature and extent of the potential risk and, where necessary, providing an appropriate support package tailored to an individual's needs.

A multi-agency panel, chaired by the Local Authority, decides on the most appropriate action to support individuals, taking their circumstances into account.
