Man sentenced following fatal RTC in Fazeley

A man has been jailed for 12 months for dangerous driving on the A5 in Fazeley, near Tamworth, in 2015.

Steven Porton, aged 29, of Boulevard Walk in Walsall, was convicted of dangerous driving.

This follows a fatal road traffic collision on 20 November 2015 involving two motorcycles which resulted in the death of Philip Gray, aged 37, from the Oldbury area of the West Midlands.

Porton was sentenced at Stafford Crown Court today (19 May). He was sentenced to 12 months in prison; a three-and-a-half year driving ban and will have to take an extended retest.

A detailed investigation into the circumstances of the collision was carried out by the force's Collision Investigation Unit.
