fire

Officers from Stoke-on-Trent South Local Policing Team are appealing for information following an arson incident.

A resident at an address in Oldfield Street, Fenton, Stoke-on-Trent, reported becoming aware of a strange odour in the property at about 7:30pm last night (Thursday 16 February).

A short time later, after a knock at the door, she realised the letterbox had been set on fire.

Our colleagues at the Fire and Rescue Service attended the incident but the fire was already out before their arrival.

The offender was seen running away from the property, jumping over a wall into a nearby alleyway. He is described as a white boy, aged between 10-14 yrs-old.

We want to hear from anyone who witnessed anyone acting suspiciously in the area yesterday evening (16 February) and would urge anyone with information to contact us.

Anyone who can help is asked to contact Staffordshire Police on Non-emergency 101 quoting incident number 721 of 16 February. Alternatively, you can contact Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111 or via their anonymous online report form at crimestoppers.org. Your details cannot be traced and you will not go to court.
