Richard Meaden

South Staffordshire Local Policing Team Commander.

Richard joined the police service in 1992 and was posted to Newcastle-under-Lyme. After enjoying subsequent postings to Cannock Chase and Lichfield, he fulfilled an ambition and joined the Criminal Investigation Department (CID). Richard then spent the following five years working in the CID, gaining valuable experience investigating various types of crime.

In 2005, Richard was promoted to Sergeant and moved to a uniform post at Tamworth Police Station. A spell as a Sergeant within local Intelligence highlighted an area of policing that he is particularly passionate about.

Richard has also enjoyed working as a temporary response Inspector within force. This was followed by a secondment to the Home Office, working as a temporary Detective Inspector within the West Midlands Immigration Crime Team.

Following promotion to Inspector in 2013, Richard returned to force and was posted to Force Intelligence. This is a role he has held until recently, moving to South Staffordshire LPT to take up the post of Local Policing Commander.
