John Owen

Stoke-on-Trent North Local Policing Team Commander.

John Owen is the Chief Inspector responsible for Local Policing in Stoke-on-Trent North. John is passionate about policing, and feels very proud and privileged to be appointed LPT Commander within Stoke North.

Most recently John has been a Detective Inspector in the Public Protection and Investigation Department and helped set up Operation Safenet to tackle child abuse via online images. Whilst John's background is within investigation, he has spent considerable time in partnership roles.

John said "I see the future of Local Policing as something that needs to be bespoke to the Communities, and not one size fits all. Working in partnership is of paramount importance, and it is key for the right people, to do the right things at the right time. I am excited to meet and engage with the communities and want to build on the engagement forums that are already in place. I want the police to be doing what the Communities expect; for me, that is prevention and detection of crime. Outside of that, it is supporting partners in achieving one common aim.. 'Community Safety'".

In May 2016 John was promoted to Chief Inspector and appointed to his role in Stoke North.
