Subject Access for Travel & Visa Purposes

Here you will find information on making a Subject Access application for Travel & Visa Purposes.

Initial Visa Application

If you require a Police Certificate for the purpose of an Emigration Visa or residency for a number of countries including but not limited to Australia, Canada, New Zealand South Africa and the United States of America you need to download an application form via the Association of Chief Officers (ACPO).

The following link will take you to the ACRO website where you can see full instructions on how to make an application. The site also contains some frequently asked questions to assist you:

All submissions and enquiries relating to this process should be directed to ACRO and not Staffordshire Police.

Visa Fingerprints

If the country that you wish to emigrate to has sent you an application pack requiring you to return a set of Fingerprints, in addition to your Police Certificate, you will need to contact your nearest Police Station to make arrangements for your fingerprints to be taken.

There is a charge for providing this service, and this is outlined below:

  • £75.10 per person for the first set of fingerprints
  • £35.20 per additional sets thereafter

Payment can be made by cash only as we are unable to process card payments.

Documents required

You will need to bring the following documents with you when you attend:

  • current passport or
  • full new style UK Driving Licence with photograph and counterpart form D740

If your passport is being held by the Home Office, a letter and a photocopy of your passport is acceptable providing that it has been officially stamped.

A covering letter on its own is not acceptable. You may also request for your passport to be released from the Home Office for 24 hours to enable your fingerprints to be taken.

Please bring any relevant documentation with you, including any fingerprint forms that you have been given.
