A man has been left with head injuries after he was assaulted by a group of men in Belgrave Road, Longton, just after midnight on Sunday morning (Aug 11).

Detectives investigating the incident have said it is not gang related but an isolated incident which took place following an argument.

The victim and his partner were walking home with friends when an argument began after comments were made to them by men in a black car.

The car pulled up and men jumped out and assaulted the man. Another white or silver car was seen at the time. The victim, who is in his 40s and from the Longton area, is being treated in hospital for head injuries.

Anyone with information should contact Staffordshire Police on 101 referring to incident 32.
