Staffordshire Police can now name the man who sadly died following a road traffic collision on the A53 Newcastle Road, Ashley, on Wednesday (7 August).

Stephen Bevans, aged 38, from Newcastle-under-Lyme, was driving a white Peugeot van when he was involved in a collision with a blue Landrover Discovery at around 10.30pm. Despite the efforts of members of the public and emergency service staff, Stephen was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

Specialist officers are supporting Stephen's family and they have requested that their privacy is respected at this difficult time.

The 48-year-old driver of the Landrover Discovery remains in hospital where she is receiving treatment for her injuries.
