Leek woman jailed for supplying cocaine

Gemma Birchall

A Leek woman has been jailed for two and a half years for supplying cocaine.

Gemma Birchall, aged 28, of Abbots Road, pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply a Class A drug at an earlier hearing.

In May 2018 local neighbourhood officers arrested Birchall outside of her home. They executed a warrant at the address and seized 26.1grams of high purity cocaine from a kitchen drawer, along with approximately £2,000 in cash.

Birchall was sentenced on Tuesday (9 July) at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court.

Chief Inspector Mark Thorley, of Staffordshire Moorlands Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: "We're pleased with this result, and estimate that the value of cocaine, which would have been sold at street level deals, is around £3,250.

"Those that deal and supply drugs blight communities, prey on the vulnerable and ruin lives.

"Throughout the Staffordshire Moorlands we will continue to target drug-dealers and bring them before the courts. We hope this goes some way to reassure the local community."
