Tamworth and Lichfield officers have teamed up with partners from the West Midlands in an operation to deter and disrupt criminals in the local area.

Over a three day period (4-6 March) officers from Staffordshire Police's Tamworth and Lichfield neighbourhood policing teams, West Midlands Police and the Central Motorway Police Group flooded the local area to gather intelligence and disrupt criminals planning illegal activities.

During the three nights officers stopped almost 200 vehicles for random checks, seized two vehicles, and performed seven stop and searches on individuals.

Sergeant Paul Stafford, from the Tamworth Neighbourhood Policing Team, who organised the operation, said: "This combined effort provided a great level of visibility and helped to prevent crime now and in the future. This was a fantastic joint effort between teams and the intelligence gathered will help us to close in on those responsible for car key burglaries in the south of the county.

"Our local community can expect to see much more of these cross-border and multi-agency operations so that we can continue to tackle those issues that matter most to the public we serve."

Any information you have on the theft of motor vehicles could help us to investigate crime, so if you do know anything please contact 101 or 999 if a crime is in progress.
