CCTV Appeal: Stoke-on-Trent theft

Theft Longton.JPG

Officers from Staffordshire Police have released a CCTV image of a man they would like to speak to in connection with a theft in Stoke-on-Trent.

At around 1.30pm on Wednesday 14 November an elderly woman withdrew £1000 from a bank in Longton.

As the woman walked towards Matalan on Heathcote Road, she was approached by a man who asked for directions. She stopped to help him and was distracted with a map, as he took the cash from her handbag.

The man is described as eastern European, around 30 years old, 5ft tall and of a slim build. He was wearing black skinny fit trousers, a grey chequered jacket and black patent shoes.

Enquiries are on-going, and officers would like to speak to anyone who recognises the man or can assist with the investigation.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Staffordshire Police by emailing richard.barnhouse@staffordshire.pnn.police.uk and quoting incident number 389 of 14 November.

Alternatively contact the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously on 0800 555 111.
