Joint investigation into Tamworth house fire underway

Staffordshire Police and Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service have launched a joint investigation following a house fire in Tamworth on Sunday (6 January).

Officers and firefighters were called to the property on Parkfield Close at around 5.45pm yesterday evening.

Colleagues from West Midlands Ambulance Service also attended the scene. A 55-year-old woman was taken to Good Hope Hospital in Sutton Coldfield by ambulance. She remains in hospital where her condition is described as serious.

Detective Constable Jamie Harris from Staffordshire Police, said: "We'd like to thank those members of the public who assisted at the scene last night and for the co-operation of the local residents whilst fire crews tackled the blaze.

"The cause of the fire is currently unknown so we are appealing to anyone with any information to come forward and help with our investigation. If you can help please call 101 quoting incident 469 of 6 January."
