Two men have been jailed after officers discovered drugs and cash following a stop and search in Stoke-on-Trent.

Dale Jackson, aged 28, of Newcastle Street, pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply Class A drugs (Crack Cocaine and Heroin) and possession of a knife blade in a public place. He was sentenced to 52 months in prison.

Jackson was travelling in a hire vehicle when it was stopped by police in Northcote Street, Shelton, on 20 April 2018. Upon searching him, officers discovered a quantity of Class A drugs and a knife.

Police then carried out a further search at his former address in Duke Street, where they recovered £3,000 in cash. Also at the address, officers searched another man, who was also in possession of drugs and cash.

Dylon Kirkham, aged 19, of Friars Road, pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply Class A drugs (Crack Cocaine and Heroin). He was sentenced to 45 months detention in a youth offender's institution.

Both men were sentenced at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court on Friday (30 November).

Neighbourhood Officer Ian Prendergast from Stoke South Neighbourhood Policing Team, said; "We will not tolerate drug-dealing in our communities and we'll do everything we can to find those responsible. We hope this sends out a clear message that if you deal drugs in our area you will face a prison sentence."
