One man has been arrested after officers executed warrants at two addresses in Stoke-on-Trent this morning (Thursday 8 November)

A team of officers, including detectives, firearms officers, response officers and members of the dog support unit, conducted searches at addresses in Mollison Road, Meir, and Lightwood Road, Dresden, at 6am.

A 19-year-old man from Stoke-on-Trent was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit criminal damage with intent to endanger life. The arrest follows an incident on Monday evening, where a firearm was fired at a house in Meir. No-one was injured.

A number of searches will now be taking place throughout the day.

Detective Superintendent Steve Morrey, head of the Force Criminal Investigation Department, said: "This incident has been taken very seriously. We have taken swift action to show our communities and those that are so reckless to endanger the life of others by discharging a firearm in the street, that this type of crime will not be tolerated. Activity and criminal behaviour of this nature will get the full attention of Staffordshire Police to ensure we bring those responsible to justice.

"Detectives will now be undertaking extensive enquiries in relation to this investigation. However, I would want to reassure people that the chances of becoming a victim of this type of crime in Staffordshire are very low, this was not a random attack."
