How to register
The Overseas Visitors Registration Office at Stafford Police station (Eastgate Street Stafford ST16 2DQ) is the place to visit in Staffordshire if you live in Staffordshire and have been required to register with the police, an essential part of many foreign nationals’ visa conditions.
You can begin your registration using our online system. The system will save your information as you progress through, once completed you will need to activate your account within one hour for which you will receive an email.
Each adult (person 16 years and above) that needs an appointment has to have their own account, being named on another person’s account as a spouse does not mean you have registered.
You will have 40 minutes to create your account and input your details online so please have all personal documents to hand. Once completed you'll need to activate your account within one hour for which you will receive an email.
You will then be invited to book an appointment at the Overseas Visitors Registration Office at Stafford Police station (Town Centre on the venue options).
The payment of £34 relates to new registrations only and can be paid either online by credit card prior to the appointment, or in exact cash on the day.
Please do not pay the fee if you are only updating your certificate for the following reasons:
- Change of address
- New BRP card
- Transfer from another force (If you have lost the certificate you will need to pay for a new one)
- Require a new certificate (Previous one full)
- New passport
- Birth of child
Currently appointments are held on a Wednesday and Friday (apart from bank holidays) between 9am and 3pm, there is no facility to attend without a booked appointment.
During September and October/November each year appointments are held at Staffordshire and Keele University for students and staff (only) that require a new registration or to update an existing certificate.
Please liaise with the international student representative at the university who will be able to confirm if arrangements have been made for the OVRO team to visit the campus. If there are no appointments being held on campus then students/staff will have to book a visit to Stafford Police station.
The appointments are held at the below location:
