Reporting changes in circumstances

Once you have registered, you are required to report any of the following changes to the OVRO within 8 days:

  • New passport
  • New entry visa
  • Extension of stay granted by Home Office via biometric residence permit (BRP) / visa card
  • Change in marital status - documentation in English must be produced
  • Change in place of study e.g. new University/College/school or change of employment
  • Change to course - subject, extension etc.
  • Change of name
  • Temporary absence from your registered address for more than 2 months

Change of address:

  • You are required to report any change to your residential address within 7 days of moving.

These changes can be reported in the following way:

Royal Mail Special DeliveryTo report changes by post you must send:

  • A written note of the full changes you are reporting and a contact telephone number and/or email address on which you can be contacted if there are any queries
  • Any necessary supporting documentation regarding the change (e.g. letter from university/college, letter from employer etc.)
  • Your police registration certificate (PRC)

Your documents are important. If you choose to post them we strongly advise you use Royal Mail Special Delivery service (see image) which allows you to insure the contents and track the letter. The OVRO will use the same service to return them to you once processed; there is no need to provide return postage.
