Central Motorway Police Group (CMPG)

CMPG BridgeThe Central Motorway Police Group was formed in 1990, CMPG now has 235 officers and staff working across all functions to keep some of the busiest roads in Europe moving.

Our focus is to stop crime on the region's roads and make them safer. We are responsible for policing the M5, M42, M6, M6 Toll, M54, A500 and the Aston Expressway.

Its headquarters are in Perry Barr, Birmingham with operations managed from the Highways England regional control centre in Quinton, Birmingham.

CMPG works collaboratively with Staffordshire Police and West Midlands Police, via tactical tasking and co-ordination processes, to disrupt and control the threat, risk and harm generated by criminal activity for each force area and in doing so supports individual force resources and priorities.
