Blurton, Hollybush and Newstead Neighbourhood Management Area (NMA) consists mainly of large social housing estates, large areas of which are being redeveloped to improve facilities and conditions for the residents.
The area had fallen into decline following the closure of local coal mines, but with the development of the neighbouring Trentham Lakes industrial site, things are again improving. The new Trentham Lakes housing development is also part of our area.
There is a good community spirit and in addition to three junior schools and a high school, the area also has its own small shopping precinct, which is itself being redeveloped.
The Newstead trading estate is a busy industrial area and provides a lot of work for local people.
