Longport and Middleport

Middleport is a community which sits alongside the Trent and Mersey Canal. It includes neighbouring Longport/Westport, which together were once thriving pottery communities. Together the three areas form the western part of the market town of Burslem, which is the 'mother town' of Stoke-on-Trent.

Westport Lake is now a popular beauty spot and is well-used by the local community. Although the pottery industry has declined significantly, the areas are now home to many thousands of families, and there are also schools and small businesses to be found.
