Leek and Biddulph Neighbourhood Policing Unit (NPU) is centred on the market town of Leek, which is the major employment and retail centre of the NPU with a traditional town centre. Leek is a town of real character with ancient markets, intriguing antique shops, victorian mills and historic churches.
The town of Biddulph was attached to the NPU from Stoke-on-Trent when the Division took on Local Government boundaries. It has a small shopping centre surrounded by residential estates of both owner-occupied and rented accommodation. Biddulph East benefits from being a Single Regeneration Budget (SRB) area. Biddulph is famous for the unique Biddulph Grange Garden which is now owned by The National Trust. The rest of the NPU is rural with Endon, Brown Edge, and Stockton Brook being the other significant centres of population.
The NPU has a population of around 47,000 and around 20,000 households.
Local police work very closely with colleagues from the local authority, Staffordshire Moorlands District Council.
People across Staffordshire are to get a huge opportunity to meet their neighbourhood policing commanders - and they’ll be left in no doubt about where and where to find them! (19/08/2010)
Officers are appealing for help to trace the owners of a large collection of war memorabilia discovered in North Staffordshire. (09/08/2010)
