Cannock Neighbourhood Policing Unit (NPU) is in the south of the county and was historically a major centre for coal mining. Today the town is rapidly developing as a residential, industrial and leisure area. It borders the West Midlands conurbation and is also home to one of the best known areas of outstanding natural beauty in the Midlands, Cannock Chase. Within the NPU there are smaller neighbourhood management areas covering the town centre: Chadsmoor, Hednesford, Norton Canes, Bridgtown, Longford and Heath Hayes, and here police work very closely with colleagues from the local authority, Cannock Chase District Council.
Officers from across Stafford Borough, Cannock Chase and South Staffordshire areas will be available at this year’s Family Fun Day at the MOD base on Beaconside in Stafford on Saturday 4 September. (24/08/2010)
