A Rugeley resident and her child can now enjoy their garden safely thanks to the work of Partners Assuring a Safer Staffordshire (PASS).
On Friday 21 October a fence was installed to help the woman feel more secure in her home and allow her young child to play safely in
the garden.
She previously suffered numerous problems with local youths entering her garden and causing damage.
PCSO Liz Dale, of Cannock Chase District Local Policing Team, and Parent Support Worker Jo Smithers applied for and received funding
from PASS, and with the assistance of Tree Way Fencing from Cannock Wood, were able to arrange the delivery of the fence.
The fence was fitted by Ed and Colin from 'Spirita' home improvement agency, a handyperson service supported and funded by Staffordshire County Council, they were also assisted by Dan from Woodfield building services.
The fitting of the fence took all day and was installed free of charge by fitters.
Liz, who is based at Rugeley police station, said: "I would like to extend my thanks to these companies for their generosity, without them this project could never have become a reality.
"Myself, and Jo had seen the problems the family were having and the impact it was having on their day-to-day lives.
Having a secure garden has really improved things for the family and it highlights how partnership working can really make a difference in our communities.
"This is also a good example of work being carried out locally to help combat nuisance behaviour.
Not only are we out on the streets tackling it directly - we are also thinking of preventative measure that can be put in place."
Staffordshire County Council’s cabinet member for community safety Robert Marshall said: "It is pleasing to see that this resident’s problems have been resolved thanks to the PASS funding. Nobody should have to suffer like this in their own home.
"Through initiatives like this, the PASS is helping to ensure that we are doing all we possibly can with our partners to make Staffordshire a place where people can live safely - increasingly free from crime, the causes of crime and the fear of crime."
Partners Assuring a Safer Staffordshire (PASS) is a registered charity that was formed to provide funding for positive community action to reduce crime and the fear of crime. For more information visit www.pass-staffs.co.uk (Opens in new window)
