Emergency planning is an important role for all Staffordshire’s public authorities supported by the county’s Civil Contingencies Unit (CCU).
The CCU website (Opens in new window) contains specific information relevant to business and emergency planning.
The CCU acts as a ‘hub’ – co-ordinating the work of all agencies involved in emergency activity. These include all local authorities, health trusts and emergency services.
It also has close working relationships with other bodies that deliver vital services, whether in the public (such as the army and government departments), private (gas and telecoms suppliers) or voluntary sectors.
Among the many areas included in the CCU’s remit are planning in the event of a terrorist incident, flooding, major fire or pollution incident.
