The young persons’ promise
The young persons’ promise (PDF, 2110kb) (Opens in new window) sets out the service standards young people can expect from Staffordshire Police. It was developed through consultation with young people living in Staffordshire who are members of the force’s Citizens’ Panel 100 Club.
The young persons’ panel members were given the chance to comment on the service the force provides to the younger members of society and to make suggestions as to how it could be improved. These views have been incorporated into our young persons’ promise.
The promise sets out what you as a young person can expect from us. This promise will form the cornerstone of the Children and Young Persons’ Strategy which will be launched in the near future.
Following a formal launch of the promise at Clough Hall Technology School in Kidsgrove on 6 November 2009, around 80 high schools across Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent were given supplies of posters promoting the promise. In addition, the library service received 76,000 bookmarks carrying the pledge to distribute.
Younger Person’s Promise
Further amendments were made to the original Young Person’s Promise to enable us to communicate more effectively with younger people (PDF, 1362kb) (Opens in new window).
Whilst still making the same sort of commitments, the wording of the promise has been simplified so that young people aged between seven and 11 years find it easier to understand.
The changes were made to the ‘younger‘ promise thanks to the help of children from Harpfield Primary School in Stoke-on-Trent.
Stickers and posters of the younger promise are being distributed to all primary schools in Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire
