Freedom of Information
Internal reviews
An Internal Review is conducted when an applicant appeals against the original decision. The Public Interest Test (PIT) is applied so that a full rational can be given for why a release of information is, or is not, in the Public Interest.
In line with the revised Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO) Manual of Guidance for Freedom of Information (FOI), we have reviewed our procedures in relation to Internal Reviews where a complaint in response to an FOI response, has been received.
In future, only in complex and strategically important cases, will the Internal Review Panel be required to meet.
In all other cases, the review will be conducted by either the Information Compliance Officer or an experienced Local Decision Maker who was not involved in the original decision making process.
