Information management
The Freedom of Information Act 2000 requires public organisations such as Staffordshire Police to proactively publish information of interest to the public via our publication scheme. This section explains what information we currently publish and what you can request under the act.
The Data Protection Act gives citizens the right to find out what information is held about them on computers or paper records. This is known as subject access. It covers requests for personal information for employment or emigration purposes, as well as information about incidents in which applicants have been involved.

The Data Protection Act 1998 came into being on 1 March 2000 and works in two ways. It gives individuals certain rights to access their information. It also says those who record and use personal information must be open about how the information is used and must follow the eight principles of 'good information handling'.
