Independent custody visitors
Independent custody visitors (ICVs) are vital to ensure the police service is open and transparent in the way it cares for detainees. The scheme is run by Staffordshire Police Authority to ensure it is fully independent. Unannounced visits are made to custody suites by volunteers from the local community who check on detainees' welfare.
