Community Contacts

As part of our ongoing development of neighbourhood policing, we're looking to build up more community contacts.

These are people who have a really good idea of what's going on in the neighbourhood where they live and have a strong community spirit. They might work in a local shop or school - what matters is they know what the local picture is and can represent the area they live in.

It might be that they know about anti-social behaviour problems or where speeding hotspots are. They might have heard about drug dealing to school children or concerns that a local property is being used for illegal purposes.

Community contacts want to help the police by sharing the information they receive from their local beat officers with other people in their neighbourhood. The scheme will help to improve two-way communication between police and local residents.

All members of our neighbourhood policing teams, whether constables or police community support officers (PCSOs), carry simple forms with them. Officers fill these in with their community contacts, building up their local knowledge and creating a database of people they can approach to find out what's happening on their beat.

If you would like to become a community contact, get in touch with your local beat officer. They will be happy to take your details.
