What is the Staffordshire Police Citizens’ Panel?
The panel gives members of the public a voice on a range of policing issues – from neighbourhood policing, through to the policies and quality of services provided by Staffordshire Police. We’re looking for people of different ages and from different backgrounds. And there’s no need to attend meetings – we’ll send you questions directly.
Can anyone volunteer to be a panel member?
Yes, unless:
- you, or anyone you live with, works for the police
- you live outside Staffordshire or Stoke-on-Trent
- you are under 16
- you are already a member of another Citizens’ Panel.
What will I be expected to do?
You’ll be asked to complete several short questionnaires during the course of a year. These will be either e-mailed or posted to you. Each questionnaire will relate to a specific issue and will take only a few minutes to complete.
What topics will the questionnaires cover?
Anything that could help to shape policing in Staffordshire. Topics covered so far in our Citizens’ Panel questionnaires have included neighbourhood policing, police funding, and roadside safety cameras. You could be asked for your views on key policing decisions to be made in your area, or by Staffordshire Police as a force.
How will my answers help to improve policing?
We’ll consider the questionnaire results as part of our key planning and decision-making processes. And we promise to keep you informed about how we’ve responded to views expressed by the Citizens’ Panel – by personal newsletter, and by publishing the results to this website.
How long will I be a panel member for?
We like to ensure that membership is completely refreshed after two years but, if you enjoy your time as a member, you can remain as a 'Friend of the Panel' and still receive updates and be invited to take part in other consultations.
