Major Investigations
The Major Investigation Department (MID) was established in 2003 and is responsible for conducting serious crime enquiries. Specially trained detectives investigate complex investigations including murder, manslaughter, rape, kidnap, stranger abduction, blackmail, product contamination and aggravated armed robberies.
The MID also reviews and investigates critical incidents and works closely with the force’s Major Crime Unit and Special Branch to investigate organised crime and counter terrorism.
