Technology Services

The Technology Services department is responsible for strategic planning, development, deployment and maintenance of all technology within the force. This includes desktop computing, computer servers, computing software, mobile and fixed telephony, information technology networks, all radio services and commissioning vehicles.

The department is split into four units – information services development, information technology support, communications and network, and customer services.

The information services development unit is responsible for the IT strategy and the development of the force’s technology programme and the development of software.

The information technology support unit is responsible for the maintenance of all computer hardware and software throughout the force.

The communications and network unit is responsible for the development and maintenance of the force’s telephone network, fax machines, local area and wide area networks, modems and switches, mobile telephony, video conferencing and the Airwave radio service.

The customer services unit is responsible for managing the force’s technology service centre which helps staff with computer glitches and technology problems and vehicle commissioning.

The department makes a significant contribution to the operational and administrational effectiveness of Staffordshire Police and is in the top 100 list of IT using organisations in the UK.
