HR & Learning and Development

The successful delivery of an effective policing service is primarily determined by the performance of their staff. The work of the HR department ensures that we recruit, retain and develop our staff to the best of our ability and make the best use of our people and resources.

We aim to provide a HR function that:

  • gives clear central direction
  • undertakes day to day transactional business in the most efficient manner
  • maximises the HR contribution to performance
  • promotes people management as an essential part of manager's skills
  • provides local and central professional HR advice and guidance to support senior management teams and service delivery managers.
