Investigation hubs

The Investigation Hubs support frontline policing by undertaking, advising and detecting volume serious acquisitive, time critical crime investigations and proactively targeting organised crime groups.

This supports the force engagement strategy in enabling our uniform colleagues to spend more of their time patrolling the streets providing visibility and reassurance to the communities we serve.

The hubs are made up from the following teams:

  • Reactive CID - which consists of specialist crime investigators who investigate complex, serious and protracted crime enquiries. The teams' role starts with liaising with their uniform colleagues following the discovery of a crime. The technique of reactive investigations include, liaising with Forensic Investigators during the examination of offence locations and the identification of forensic links between suspects and the offence. Officers will then begin interviewing victims, witnesses and suspects. CID officers seek to bring offenders to justice by gathering all material available that will assist the decision making process of the Crown Prosecution Service
  • the IMPACT teams - specialise in tackling, detecting and reducing volume crime including vehicle, burglary, robbery and serious violence
  • Proactive teams - officers whose role is to proactively target offenders providing support to all disciplines within the investigation hubs when required and organised crime groups.
