Collision Care Pack
Our service to you
Staffordshire Police will provide the public with the best possible service to the public in relation to the investigation of road collisions.
Injury collisions
Our primary role is to:
- prevent any further collisions
- ensure the injured are treated
- investigate the collision to determine the cause and whether offences have been committed
- ensure traffic flows freely
- arrange the recovery of vehicles.
Damage-only collisions
In non-injury collisions where details have been exchanged (in accordance with the law), there will not be a police report. In all other cases, especially where injury has occurred, the police will compile a full collision report.
Note: You are entitled to request insurance details from other parties under Section 154 of the Road Traffic Act 1998. Should any person fail to supply this information, they may be commiting an offence. Where Staffordshire Police does not record these incidents, we are unable to provide insurance details.
Fail to stop collisions
Staffordshire Police will fully investigate and report any collision where a driver has:
- failed to stop at the scene
- failed to report the collision as required
- failed to provide particulars as required.
