Rape Awareness
Alcohol impairs your judgement
Alcohol
- Alcohol impairs your judgement. You can’t be responsible for your own safety if you can’t think straight
- Try to moderate your drinking especially if you’re on a night out clubbing
- Try to keep a mental note of how many drinks you’re having so you can tell if your drink’s been spiked
- Drink spiking happens so never leave your drink unattended and never accept a drink from a stranger
- If you’re too drunk to know what’s going on and someone has sex with you, it’s rape as you aren’t in a position to give consent
Staying Safe on the Web
- Never arrange to meet someone you’ve only met through a chatroom or a social networking site
- Never give out personal details, such as your age, where work/go to school/college or your address to people you don’t know
- Be careful who you accept into your private chat rooms or forums. It’s safest just to accept people you know in the real world and not just cyberspace
- Use your privacy settings. People can still send friend requests and message you, they just won’t be able to pester you on Instant Messenger
- Be careful what pictures you post on your profile. Pictures can give away personal details without you realising it
Don’t give away too much in a blog such as the address of a party you’re planning to go to. If your friends need to know the details, they can ring you.
