'101' Facebook Photo Competition
A photograph of a Burntwood Brownie pack lying on the floor in the form of the numbers ‘101’ has won a Staffordshire Police photograph competition, which has been running on Facebook since the start of the year.
The photograph of 2nd Boney Hay Brownies, taken by Brown Owl Pam Ecob, was one of 20 photos selected by a panel of judges, which were then voted for by ‘Likes’ on the Staffordshire Police Facebook page.
The winner’s prize is a Jaguar 240 Police Car Model 1:18 scale, and the two runners up prizes are Jaguar MK2 3.8 and a Jaguar X16 Series 1 4.2, which were donated to the force.
The winning photographs will now be used by the force to help promote the 101 number.
Brown Owl Pam Ecob said: “The idea came from an action game we play.
“The Brownies thought it would be a creative way to get the 101 number across to other children. We are using this information as part of our Crime Prevention Badge.”
Chief Inspector Mark Riley, from the force’s Operational Communications Department, said: “The introduction of the 101 number in November 2011 means communities have one easy way to contact their local police force to report non-emergency crime and disorder.
“It’s the biggest change in the way that the public contact the police since the 999 system was introduced nearly 70 years ago.
“Since its launch, 101 has been well received by the public.”
The runner up photographs, taken by Rachel Hill and Helen Pittard, are ‘101’ written in oatcakes and a dog and bone themed picture.
In an emergency, the public should continue to call 999, such as when a crime is in progress, when there is danger to life or when violence is being used or threatened.
