Staffordshire Police headquarters are at Weston Road in Stafford. The site consists of nine office blocks extending from the main entrance at Weston Road adjacent to Staffordshire University to the Staffordshire Technology Park. at Beaconside.
Weston Road replaced the old Cannock Road site in February 2010 when the force executive team and corporate services department moved to purpose built premises on the site.
It was built in 1988 and its first occupants were the former Central Traffic Group. In October 2007 staff working in the force's Crime and Operational Support Group (now Protective Services Division) - along with the force's Criminal Justice Administration Department and other specialist teams - moved to new accommodation at Rowley House, named in memory of a former Deputy Chief Constable with the force.
Cannock Road was first occupied by the force in the 1950s, initially as a driver training school. It was not until a decade later, in the 1960s, that the site began to be developed as the headquarters for the county force and as a base for specialised central functions and support departments.
Although most departments have relocated to Weston Road a few specialist departments such as Technology Services, driver training, emergency control and call-handling centre remain at Cannock Road for the near future. However, all departments are due to vacate the site by April 2011.
